A legacy

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Yesterday I conducted the memorial service of lady of nearly ninety three years of age, this took place at the church where I had been the minister for many years. This lady lived a life where all those that met her found her to be gentle, kind and considerate of others, what ever she did she did to the best of her ability. All those who knew her were influenced by her in some way to be a better person.

It is always sad the day when each of us go to sleep in the Lord. On that day how will those around us remember us, will it be with love and sadness or will it be with anger and bitterness. It is the life we live that counts, the way we respond to others no matter how they respond to us that makes the difference. A kind word will always turn away anger, an understanding response to a hurtful situation, and the gentleness of a forgiving heart. It is this that we are able to do, that makes that difference in the walk of life that we have with others.

Be encouraged today to be mindful of the legacy you leave others

Point to ponder: Gentle and kind is something we are all able to be.

Question to consider: How will people remember you?
