Choose peace

17 October 2011

Romans 12:18 If possible, so far as it depends upon you, live peaceably with all.

Each of us is given the ability and opportunity to be able to live peaceably. The ability to chose is also a gift and when we choose to live at peace we become peacemakers. Peace depends on you, it takes two to dance the tango and in the same way it takes two to argue. So we look at those around us we need to see them with the eyes of Christ.

The reason for this is that they  may be in difficult situation, they may have to always be in control, they may be unhappy and so on. They then react to those around them and so cause tension and stress, we then choose to accept that stress or to ignore the stress. As we come to understand the power to choose, so we choose to be understanding, kind, gentle and so on allowing people to come to peace. It is peace that brings release from aggression or tension or anxiety.  So as far as we are concerned we know as far as possible we choose to live peaceably with all.

Be encouraged today that as far as it depends upon you, to live peaceably with all.

David

Point to ponder: Be at peace.
