Seek Christ

30 July 2012

Luke 19:38-40 "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" And some of the Pharisees in the multitude said to him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples." He answered, "I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out."

So often I preach to a congregation of three, on occasion two, the pews are empty, in some churches I have preached to hundreds, whether I preach to one or thousands the ‘Good News’ remains the same. No matter who sits in the pew they are all sinners and often are dead in Christ without knowing it. They hear the Good News but never repent and change their sinful behaviour, they claim to know Christ yet they never speak about Him to others. Thankfully I am called to preach the Good News, only the Holy Spirit is able to do the rest. I often think that the pews praise God more than those sitting on them.

The sad part about today is that so few sermons are the ‘sword of truth’ that cuts deep into the hearts of men and woman bringing them to that point where they recognise their sin and their desperate need of  a Saviour. People like to hear what tickles their ears and when they have to hear the truth of who they are, sinners, sick, broken, hurting, shattered, trapped in the strongholds of sinful lives and behaviour controlled by lust, greed, hatred, unforgiveness, regrets, bitterness. Then they close their ears and believe this message is for someone else and not them. This deception is the way the deceiver operates so that people do not turn to Christ to be saved.

Be encouraged today to urgently seek Christ and His forgiveness.

David

Point to ponder: Without Christ we are eternally lost.

Question to consider: Have you sought Christ and His forgiveness?
