Matthew
5:37 Let what you say be simply
'Yes' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil.
One of the things that is a
problem and will always be a problem is those people who say one thing and then
do another. They will say and promise that they will come to visit, and then
they never do, they promise to keep in touch, yet even as you hear the words
you know in your heart that they do not mean it. How often are there people who
say that they are Kingdom children, yet their word has no value.
When we say something, we
do what we say, even if it is going to be harder than we thought, it also means
giving up what we are doing and then do what we promised to do. A liar is a
person who speaks from a heart of untruth, and when we say something we need to
be conscious of what we say. For when we speak as Christians we speak with the
heart of Jesus Christ and not our own, so we should be careful of what we
promise to do.
Be encouraged today to be
aware of the words of promise you utter.
David
Point to ponder: Let your yes be yes and your no be no.
Question to
consider: Do you keep your word?
