Facing tomorrow

4 January  2013

Philippians 2:1-2 So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any incentive of love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.

Every one is not in the same situation and we all face the future from different points of view, some with concern and doubts, some with fear and disappointment, others with hope and encouragement. As we look ahead we are sometimes able to see those things that will most likely happen, a dying child that will not be here next Christmas, retirement from work and the consequences of a future with reduced income. For some the joy of pregnancy and the expectation of new life, each of us have a future.

It is in these situations of life that we most need the encouragement in Christ no matter what the future holds. As we look on life we need to consider whether or incentive towards others is love. We are able to face many difficulties but they are made far worse when we lack love. Every one of us will be in a situation where we are able to encourage someone else this year and may our incentive always be love. To love others as we are loved by Christ.

Be encouraged today to have the incentive of love.

 David

Point to ponder: Be encouraged in Christ.

Question to consider: Is your incentive in life, love?
