St Mark's joins in a grand plan to unite Presbyterian congregations in prayer

Here is the letter that sparked Colleen Butler into action. It explains the concept that will bring us all together for 50 weeks. The project has both Moshe and Solomon's. Colleen has put a register on the bulletin board in the A S Welsh Hall. Get involved St Mark's. Read on and keep 23 to 25 April open. We need to pray in one hour slots both day and night.

"FRERE ROAD AND BEREA

PRESBYTERIAN CHURCHES

Congregations of the Uniting Church in Southern Africa

To All Ministers and Congregations of the U.P.C.S.A.

Dear Friends,

Greeting to you all from a warm and beautiful Durban.  Derek Potgieter, minister at Frere Road Congregation and myself, William Poole, minister of the Berea and Stella Congregations, would like to put a suggestion to you which has the support of the Moderator of the Assembly and the General Secretary.

Our suggestion, as you will see by the title of this letter, is to try and get congregations from the Cape to the Copper belt in Zambia to join in a concert of prayer to cover 50 weeks of the year 2010.

We are asking congregation to consider praying for a whole day (24 hours) or for a weekend, or for a whole week, with each day broken down into one hour slots and volunteers taking responsibility for each hour.  We believe that there must be at least 50 out of our 400 congregations who would be prepared to take up this challenge.

We think that if we manage to carry this off it will create a wonderful sense of unity for our church sharing in one common activity.  We also hope that this will direct our church and Congregation into new ventures and mission.

The St Mark's Editorial Team.
