Communion Sunday at St Mark's ... a successful day despite the challenges
This was a day Mike MacMurray will remember in a long while. He was the only member of the choir on Communion Sunday and he rigged our first paperless service. But the members of St Mark's closed ranks and not only did Mike work the slideshow of hymns and readings, he led the singing in praise of the Lord as well.
It was actually a good thing as no hymn books were required and only the church diaries were handed out to those, who arrived on time at 10h00, the new time service from this point on. It was uplifting and the plate offering was formidable considering the size of the congregation today. Solomon's sermon which centred on the "widows" mite really struck a chord.
The Women's Association had a hot dog sale after the service, and there were some over, These were given to Solomon for the first meeting of the Couple's fellowship at lunch time. All in all it was a wonderful spring day in celebration of the Lord.
Blessings,
The St Mark's Editorial team.
I like the idea of using the big screen for hymns and readings. Remember pew Bibles and hymn books are still available.
ReplyDeleteThe bullet points of the sermon on screen really worked for me.
ReplyDeleteJoy was in the congregation, Barbara is in Australia, Liz is still in Durban, Sophia in America and Roger was preaching at the United Congregational Church in Yeoville. Yolisa is recovering from the headaches which hospitalized her earlier this week.
