Rejoice

16 November 2010.

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

Sometimes it seems as people we have forgotten what it is to rejoice. To rejoice is to be filled with joy, that you jump up and down, shouting, singing and generally so filled with joy that it seems it wants to burst out of you. When last have you felt joy like that? Sometimes looking at peoples faces from the pulpit one may have cause to believe that people have lost the joy of life. Everything needs to be so neat and orderly, colours must match, everything and everything must be in its place and conform.

The truth is that there is something so liberating with joy that it is not necessary that everything must be planned and perfect. When one thinks of moments of overwhelming joy it is seldom that it was planned, it is usually so filled with moments of faith, moments of simplicity that we just free from our inhibition of what others think that we spontaneously explode with joy. This rejoicing is not dependant on our situation, but something that releases us, so when things go wrong we are still able to rejoice. So we ca say with St Paul, rejoice, rejoice always.

Be encouraged today to rejoice!!!

David

Point to ponder: Rejoice in the Lord.

Question to consider: Have you really rejoiced?
