What agenda is it?

10 November 2010.

Proverbs 12:23 A prudent man conceals his knowledge, but fools proclaim their folly.

One of the things I learnt many years ago was to ensure that I do not attend meetings where I have no input on the agenda, and I do not make decisions based on the timing of others. I found that I was doing what other people wanted, and this became important to me, as I wanted to please them so that I would feel wanted. People would set agendas and I would happily follow, what was urgent for them became important to me, I then found myself making time for them at the cost to my family and myself. Urgent things come at us all the time, but are they important and to whom?

When we set agendas, and take time to think about what is to be discussed, whether we can contribute, and whether the decision made is important and we find that this is not the case, you may be attending a meeting you should never have been invited to.  If you cannot make a difference in a positive way and you have to be in the meeting, then why are you there? Often people want a meeting to place you on a spot so that you are forced to conform to their plans, or to give their decisions more credibility. Wisdom comes as a gift from God, and it is a wise person that does not associate with fools. Wisdom implies that we do not conform to others, but that we conform to God. If it is important to God, it should be important for us, therefore we make the time, and remember God allows us input on His agenda through prayer.

Be encouraged today to not be in haste, and have input in the agendas.

David

Point to ponder: Wisdom is being right with God, not with men.
