1 Thessalonians 4:10. But we exhort you, brethren, to do so more and more, to aspire to live quietly, to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we charged you; so that you may command the respect of outsiders, and be dependent on nobody.
When one reads the Bible and studies it, there is a tendency to come to believe that to live a life that is pleasing to God is almost unattainable. This is also reflected in the teaching and the preaching within the church and so the result is a person who feels they never get to please God. All of us are sinners, this is true, yet Jesus Christ has paid the price of that sin, and so although we may sin, that sin has no hold on us.
As we life a normal life, doing normal things, not hurting anyone, loving those around us as best we can, keeping our minds on our own business, respecting others, what more does God expect from us than that. Of course there are those who are called to be different, to go and change the world and that they should do. But for most of us, to enjoy a Sunday with our family, resting in the love of God and soaking up the peace in our home and the love in our hearts pleases God just as much as when somebody goes to convert the heathen. We please God when we enjoy what He has given us.
Be encouraged today to please God through what He has given us.
David
Point to ponder: God is pleased with you.
Question to consider: Do you please God?
