Be nice

20 January 2012

Acts 28:2 And the natives showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold.

This coming weekend we are preparing to receive a special guest, a man that has spent time in the evangelical ministry, serving overseas who is coming to stay with us. He purpose of his stay is for us to minister into his life in the love of Jesus Christ in order for him to rest and recover. Preparing his room, fixing all the cracks, putting new curtain rails, painting the walls and ceilings, washing carpets, just making a beautiful space for him, gives us just as much pleasure as what he will have enjoying it. When we do work and make something look pretty, we make something in ourselves also pretty.

So in the way we do things, when we do it with joy, not just because it’s just a job, then that joy shines in us for others to see. Even if the person we do it for does not recognise the effort, we still enjoy the pleasure of having done something special for someone else. It is in these little practical ways that we show our care for others, and in so doing they know we are who we say we are.

Be encouraged today to do something nice for somebody else.

David

Point to ponder: When we nice to others, we are nice to ourselves.

Question to consider: Are you known as a nice person?
