Instruments of grace

31 January 2012.

Luke 2:40  And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom. And the grace of God was on Him.

Many people ask, how can I grow in grace? In careful study of Scriptures we find that even Jesus grew in grace, how did He do this? The secret lies in understanding the tools of grace that God has given each of us to use and so grow. The first of these is a prayer relationship with God, where we spend time each day in prayer. This is rather a quality time than a quantity time.

The second is in the study of Scripture, to read the Bible each day and allow the Holy Spirit through revelation, reveal the meaning of the text, so that we grow in understanding of God’s word to us. The third is spending time in fellowship with other Believers, so that we share the journey of grace in our lives. This journey should not be confined to a bible study or fellowship group or worship time, but to journey with each other the daily issues of life, in friendship and support of each other. When we use these instruments with discipline and obedience we grow in grace, the more we do these things the more we grow in grace.

Be encouraged today to use the instruments of grace.

Point to ponder: Grace comes from obedience to God.
