Pumpkin season

16 January 2012

Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth."

It seems just the other day that I planted pumpkin in the vegetable garden, and just after it started to send out its vines we had heavy hail and it seemed they were badly damaged. Nevertheless being left in the back garden not much attention was given and the leaves are large and cover a wide area, lifting the leaves is a wonderful crop of pumpkin. It seems that sometimes if you leave things alone they are able to be pumpkins without our interference.

No matter how badly damaged the plant may have been, it seems that the damage actually caused it to bear more fruit. So it would appear as people that we are inclined to think that just because a person has had a hard time, been hurt, carrying scars and often hurting wounds they are still able to bear fruit. It is the nature of pumpkins to produce pumpkins, it’s pumpkin season. Now not that you are a pumpkin, but what fruit are you busy bearing?

Be encouraged to realise that you are a fruit bearing person, no matter what you have been through or going to go through.

David

Point to ponder: You are bearing fruit even if it may be nuts.

Question to consider: do you compare your fruit to others?
